Vibgyor Yelahanka Band is back again!

Vibgyor Yelahanka would like to share some unknown facts about the musical instruments. Every instrument that we use has some history that has various facts which would surprise us. Vibgyor Yelahanka shares with you some unknown facts about a Violin.

Here are some interesting and unknown facts about a violin you might have ever known. The term violin comes from the Medieval Latin word vitula, which means a stringed instrument. A modern violin was designed in the 1500’s by Andrea Amati, and is typically comprised of maple wood.

VibgyorYelahanka discovered that playing the violin burns approximately 170 calories per hour.
Violins are known to come in a variety of different sizes to suit every player’s height and size. If you are looking to teach your child to learn a violin, Vibgyor Yelahanka suggests you can start learning violin at a young age with a 1/32 or 1/16 size. The most expensive violin in the world was made by Giuseppe Guarneri in 1741. The bows of a violin contain 150 to 200 hairs which can be made up of a variety of materials including nylon and horse hair.

Vibgyor Yelahanka found out that the violin strings were first made of sheep gut (commonly known as catgut), which was stretched, dried, and twisted. Other materials violin strings have been made out of include: solid steel, stranded steel, or various synthetic materials, wound with various metals, and sometimes plated with silver.

You would be surprised to know that the world’s largest playable violin was constructed by 15 dedicated violin makers from Markneukirchen, Germany. It is 4.27 meters tall and 5.22 meters wide and sounds 3 times lower than a conventional violin.

To all those who love playing a violin, have you ever thought that what would you do when you don’t have regular strings available for your violin? Well, Vibgyor Yelahanka has found you a solution. You can separate strands of hair and glued them together to create a similar feel to metal wound strings. It is kind of strange and also very impressive at the same time!

Hope this was beneficial for those who love playing musical instruments. Vibgyor Yelahanka will be back soon with some other interesting facts to share with you. Till then take good care of yourselves!

Through the foggy windscreen – VIBGYOR Yelahanka Band

We all have that weather detector in us that alarms us about an upcoming season with one or two triggers setting them off; and like every other year since childhood, monsoon also brings tonnes of nostalgia along with it and it is a widely known fact that music is one of the best triggers to bring back memories other than one’s sight or olfactory senses.

This monsoon, we’re going to bring those memories back with music. Presenting VIBGYOR Yelahanka’s new album straight out of the studio - “Nostalgia trickles”.

The credit goes to VIBGYOR Yelahanka band’s bassist who decided to bring up the topic of nostalgia this season and the rest of us were glued to it. Monsoon is about a lot of sounds that brings back pleasant memories. While the scent of moist soil cannot be replicated through music, the sound of thunder, the sound of a cob of bhutta roasting on hot coals, the wavy pattern rainfall that creates its own little jazz concert brings back memories without actually needing to witness it. That was the encapsulating idea behind VIBGYOR Yelahanka’s – ‘Nostalgia Trickles’.

VIBGYOR Yelahanka band’s new album Nostalgia Trickles features two songs written by our lead guitarist who has a proven mettle to come up with connections to childhood memories. They’re called ‘Pours straight from the heaven’ and ‘Mucky Monsoon Mondays’ is an homage to the days we played football during downpours and come back home exhausted only to find mum waiting with a warm cup of tea.

VIBGYOR Yelahanka band’s – Nostalgia Trickles has its roots stuck to the mission of taking you decades back across space and time with a musical experience like none other. This July, add VIBGYOR Yelahanka’s new album to your ‘to-listen’ list.

Groove it with Yelahanka – Summer Madness

Its summer time and quite inevitably, the perfect time for poolside parties. Summer brings with itself a whole other tune and that invariably leads to music that comes close to nothing. Why you ask? Music has the ability to grab you by your senses and put you in your desired state and a nice soothing session of good music can keep you up even during the hottest of days.

Fusing together the magic of reggae and surf music, VIBGYORYelahanka band have come up with our new album “Poolside Melody”, a perfect set-up for your quintessential pool parties. Our bassist came up with the lyrics to “The calm before the fire” and says it’s one of the most mesmerising tunes to listen to on a road trip.

“Cometh the hour, cometh the ice” is another VIBGYOR Yelahanka favourite that is reminiscent of the days of Freddie Mercury with offbeat lyrics and symphony, finishing off reggae style. Our lead guitarist reckons that this one of the most difficult songs to put together and it was a task worth every minute spent.

Summer is incomplete without surf music and at VIBGYOR Yelahanka, we knew that it was a must add to our list. Our drummer decided to call his creation “Water Rainbows” and it’s a song fit for pool parties.

So when you decide to party this summer or go for road trips with your gang, don’t forget to include VIBGYOR Yelahanka’s “Poolside Melody” in your to-do list. Let the magic of VIBGYOR Yelahanka band spread like wildfire, bringing together friends during this scorching summer and create melodious memories.

What to do next? Step 3 in creating your presence by Vibgyor Yelahanka Band

The stage is set; the equipment has been checked and placed where the band members can find them. There is nervous excitement in the air as Vibgyor Yelahanka Band does a final test. You find yourself fidgeting, trying to stop yourself from checking if the cameras are running. What do you do next?

You have set up your pages, you have made your website, you have uploaded pictures, videos, music, stories, and you have even made official merchandize of your band. What do you do next? What is the next step?

This is step 3 in the Vibgyor Yelahanka Band process of creating an online presence for your band and brand. First things first, treat your Facebook page like a stage and you will remember to keep those updates coming. Now that you have set up, your next step is to get an audience, spread the word and go ‘out there.’

Be your own groupie! You are your biggest fan and no one knows your band, brand or music better than you. Be your own brand ambassadors and don’t miss any opportunity to talk about your music and your brand. Do shows, talk to people, engage with your audience. Use Facebook ads once you are comfortable with putting updates to boost your posts or ensure everyone see’s the news about a new gig coming up. It may seem weirdly vain but when we were starting out, Vibgyor Yelahanka Band members couldn’t stop talking about themselves!

After you, your friends and family are your biggest fans! When Vibgyor Yelahanka Band was starting out, half our audiences were our friends and family members! We asked, pestered, threatened and blackmailed them to talk about us, share our posts and pester and threaten their own friends to attend the gigs, ‘like’ the pages, etc.

The more audience you have, Vibgyor Yelahanka Band assures you, the more subscribers on YouTube you have, the better will be your brand image.
Next stop, handling fame

But let’s leave that for another post!

A starter course in creating an online presence with Vibgyor Yelahanka Band

As promised, Vibgyor Yelahanka Band brings to you another blog on how to ensure your music career doesn’t bite the dust before it has even had a chance to soar. If you have been following this series, in the one before we signed off for the New Year, we had covered in brief how to create your online presence and its importance. In this blog, we take the same lesson forward.

For any brand, success means sales and loyalty of customers. Sales can occur if your product is unique enough or there are no substitutes but loyalty comes from interactions. Because of social media, it is easier to engage with your audiences, create visibility for yourself, share your content and basically put a face to the brand. At the end of the day, customers are people and they connect to that face and the emotions it elicits and not the brand.

There is Facebook, Twitter and Instagram which you need to worry about. After much trial and error, Vibgyor Yelahanka Band realized Facebook and Instagram worked best for the brand page. Do your own trial and error before deciding what platforms you want to keep. If you don’t have someone who can do the regular posting and updating, having one well updated page (Facebook) is better than having 3 pages with haphazard information. Your fans will appreciate the homogeneity and you should strive to maintain.

YouTube is a no-brainer. Being a music band, you need to have a channel. It is a good idea to source videos from fans but those would be poor in quality. Don’t forget to take some good quality videos of your music to further entice your fans. Vibgyor Yelahanka Band keeps posting not only the finished music videos but also behind the scenes, videos with just vocals, etc.

You may or may not want a website. Vibgyor Yelahanka Band feels you should start with social media first before you get a website created. Websites are another ballgame and we shall discuss them in the next post. Until then, keep strumming that guitar. Adios amigos from Vibgyor Yelahanka Band.
